Nestled along the stretch of the Caribbean Coast lies Hyatt Zilara Cancun, an adults-only all-inclusive beachfront resort. An idyllic paradise, Hyatt Zilara offers elegant suites with beautiful ocean views.
Rain or shine
In between short naps and Amazon Prime, our 5-hour AA flight from LA to Dallas to Cancun went smoothly. An hour layover in Dallas had us rushing to our next flight, so no Texas BBQ just yet. It was a sunny afternoon when we landed at Cancun Airport but started to rain while we queued at immigration. Not the sort of welcome we were looking for!
Outside the airport was the hustle and bustle of so many airport transfers services. It was a great idea to have booked ours via Entertainment Plus in advance and only waited 15 minutes until our private car was ready. The 30-minute drive to our hotel was wet - streets were flooded and the skies kept pouring like crazy. We kept our hopes up for a bright weather that never came.
A luxurious hacienda
We were welcomed at Hyatt Zilara with warm greetings and a chilled glass of champagne. Our bags were automatically whisked away while we started falling in love with our new home for the next 7 days. The hotel lobby was beautiful and massive. At the entrance weren’t any grand glass doors, but a wide open facade with high ceilings inspired by modern Mexican architecture. It was a luxurious hacienda.
Inside we immediately admired the comfortable chairs and wooden furniture in between rows of slim coconut trees. There were restaurants and shops - but we firstly took notice of the Lobby Bar where all the guests were, chatting and drinking. The atmosphere was very inviting!
We were escorted to the Platinum Concierge where we waited to get our room. The concierge gave us information about the hotel, services we can use, and offered us a Menu Pillow!
The honeymoon suite
A complimentary bottle of merlot and fruits awaited us in our Junior Oceanfront King Room. The room was on the 7th floor and we loved how it had a scenic view of the Caribbean sea!
The suite features a comfy king size bed, television, a small fridge complete with soft drinks, beers, juices and snacks, a liquor cabinet, and a gourmet coffee system. We were spoiled.
There were no windows, but a sliding glass door leading to the furnished balcony: a small table, 2 cushioned chairs, and a hammock! The balcony overlooked the beachfront, Pelicanos, and the infinity pool. Imagine waking up every morning to watch the sun rise and have breakfast with this view! It was our favourite part of the day.
The modern and spacious bathroom is equipped with rain shower heads, steam shower with body jets, and double sinks. Inside the bathroom was also a tiny window where you can see the bedroom. Or is it from the bedroom, you can see the shower? Peep show alert! All hair care and body products from KenetMD.
The main reason why Dexter chose this suite is the huge double whirlpool tub in the bedroom. In the bedroom! Room service topped up our bath salts daily and the flameless candles added a little extra to the romantic mood. Perfect way to end a long day in the beach - soaking in a hot tub with a glass of wine. It was living the dream.
The closet comes with a his and hers plush bathrobes and slippers, iron and ironing board, and a laptop-size safety deposit box. We had more than enough space for our 3 check-in luggages and 2 carry-on bags.
Our honeymoon suite certainly made our honeymoon a week to remember. Elegant and comfortable, Hyatt Zilara lived up to our expectations. Next on our Cancun Series, we'll share with you where to eat in this 5-star hotel!
