Visiting a Bourdain-recommended steakhouse in Paris was on our "to-do" list during our short trip last December.
Robert et Louise is located at Le Marais, an area which Time Out Paris describes as ‘one of the hippest parts of the city, packed with modish hotels, vintage boutiques, restaurant and bars.’ The 15-minute walk from Notre Dame to Le Marais courted us with bars and cafes street after street. It made me want to stay in Paris forever.
The restaurant is cozy and old-fashioned, some wooden tables are shared with other diners, creating a rather friendly ambiance. It smelled of smoke, garlic potatoes, and meat, and at one corner you can see the open grill as flames consume your next favourite steak.
We ordered escargot, beef rib for 2 served with sautéed potatoes and salad, and creme brûlée for dessert. No wonder Anthony Bourdain featured Robert et Louise in his first episode of No Reservations: Paris. Everything was delicious!
If you’re up for a Parisian dinner of great meat, oh-so-good roasted potatoes, and a bottle of Bordeaux, Robert et Louise is the place you are looking for.
